Airdrie RCMP, Fire and EMS are currently on scene at an Airdrie middle school responding to a call about an altercation involving bear spray.
RCMP is currently not disclosing at which school in Airdrie the incident occurred while they handle the situation.
At approximately 12:54 p.m., emergency services were called when altercation occurred outside near the school and involved a small group of youth who do not attend the middle school.
A number of middle school students were outside during the altercation, stated the release. These students were not directly sprayed but are being treated on scene by emergency personnel and school staff.
Approximately thirty-seven students have been treated. Police are asking parents not to attend the school at this time and follow their normal student pick-up procedures.
