A trip to Canada's capital rendered gold medals and grins for two Rocky View County-area football players.

The Airdrie BMX Association is inviting members of the public to come out and take in the action as it hosts its Provincials 5 & 6 championships this weekend in Fletcher Park.

When they're back at school this September, Rylee Stillborn and Meira McEllistrum will have a pretty easy answer when asked what the highlight of their summer was. 

“It kind of shows the depth of these two age groups in Rocky View, which is nice to see,” Barley said.

Three George McDougall High School football alumni are linking up on the gridiron once again, albeit this time while wearing the maroon and white jerseys of the Regina Thunder.

“Obviously this year was way more of a challenge than it has been in years past,” Barley said.

“It’s a tough lesson to learn. Being a young team, the post-season is definitely a different beast in itself. However, we’re very pleased with our group and the season that was.”

"I’m really looking forward to exploring Europe. I’ve never been there before, so I think it’ll be cool to have volleyball as my job and get to travel as well.”
