A local horse enthusiast is heading to Kelowna to compete in the 2010 National Pony Club Dressage Championships, Aug. 13-15.

Nanton’s Beau Brooks beat out 29 other bull riders to win Irricana’s Bullnanza and took home more than $5,200 in prize money, Aug 7. Brooks was second in the first Go-Round with a score of 85.5, first in the finals with an 86.

Alberta’s youth reining champions have added an international accolade to their resume, after claiming the gold medal at the North American Junior and Young Riders Championship in Kentucky late last month.

A local girl is this year’s 2D Youth Champion at the Irvine Tack & Trailers Barrel Racing Series in Crossfield. Angela Cambruzzi, 16, won the championship with her 11-year-old quarter horse Annie in a time of 19.0 seconds.
