A redesignation application reverting nearly 20 acres west of Bottrel from residential to agricultural land received unanimous support from Rocky View County (RVC) council Feb. 25.

According to senior planner Stefan Kunz, the owner said the land’s previous residential designation restricted their ability to undertake agricultural pursuits on the lands and, because of the limited development potential, an Agricultural Holdings use would present fewer restrictions regarding accessory buildings and livestock.

“This is kind of nice, because we’re going the opposite direction today,” said Area. Coun. Crystal Kissel. “I know that the Grand Valley area completely supports ag parcels.”

Couns. Mark Kamachi and Jerry Gautreau were not present for the vote.
