Two men have been arrested after Cochrane RCMP responded to a report of shots fired at a residence near Morley at 1 a.m. March 31, according to police.

"Upon arrival, a vehicle, later determined to have been stolen, was fleeing the residence and was used to ram a police cruiser. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and taken into police custody," a release stated.

Police said no one was injured as a result of the shooting, nor was the police officer in the cruiser that was rammed.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, 27-year-old Tylane Edward Hunter of Morley, now faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from police, assault with a weapon on a police officer, driving while prohibited and driving without insurance.

After further investigation, 33-year-old Andrew Leigh Pooreagle of Morley was also arrested. He now faces several charges, including assault with a weapon, uttering threats, breaking and entering, possession of a restricted firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and discharging a firearm with intent.

Both Hunter and Pooreagle were remanded into custody following a judicial hearing, and are scheduled to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court April 7.
