Every robot is made for a purpose, and for the Springbank Community High School robotics team and innovation lab, that purpose is the shaping of its members’ characters and careers.

Balzac's celebrity groundhog woke from his lengthy slumber earlier this morning, rising from his burrow to make his annual prognostication. 

Neubauer said the continued allure of Groundhog Day is the yearning for spring people tend to develop at this time of year, in the middle of what's usually a cold and dark winter.

“It’s quite out of character for this community and for the area,” a member of the group said.

Twenty-one Ukrainian children were smiling a little brighter this winter, thanks to the talents of Springbank Community High School's art students.

The family-friendly event hopes to encapsulate the holiday season through an outdoor European Christmas village with over 80 vendors selling handmade stocking stuffers alongside traditional European-themed food and drink.

“Our chef is Austrian, so it’s a wonderful opportunity for him to share some of his favourite street foods with our guests,” she said. “That always adds a fun touch.”
