A traffic stop near Chestermere last week resulted in charges to two men after the seizure of nearly 100 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana and various items of drug-related paraphernalia.
At around 2 a.m. on Nov. 22, members of the Chestermere RCMP pulled over a 1995 Honda Civic on Range Road 284 near Highway 1, after following it out of the town when the vehicle licence plate information failed to match the vehicle.
The driver had determined to have outstanding warrants for his arrest and a small amount of marijuana on him. A search of his vehicle resulted in the location and seizure of the methamphetamine, electronic scales, baggies, cell phones, an imitation firearm (handgun), a small number of pills believed to be ecstasy and tools used for break and enters.
Methamphetamine is an illegal man-made synthetic drug known by many names including ‘meth,’ ‘crystal meth’ and ‘speed.’
RCMP said it varies in texture and purity depending on how it is made, but it is usually found as a fine to coarse powder, crystals, or white chunks with grey or pink bits. Methamphetamine is considered highly addictive.
Jason Trevor Harron, 36, who splits time between Chestermere and Calgary, was charged for possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of ecstacy for the purpose of trafficking, possession of break and enter tools and possession of an imitation firearm.
Brett Arthur Klyne, 31, of Calgary, was charged for possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of ecstacy for the purpose of trafficking.
Both were transported to the Strathmore RCMP detachment. Harron was scheduled to appear in court Nov. 25, while Klyne is scheduled to appear on Dec. 6.
