Today’s regular council meeting in Airdrie will kick off with a public hearing on bylaw amendments regarding Southwinds Land Use.
The bylaws will amend the Chinook Winds Community Area Structure Plan; the South Winds Neighbourhood Structure Plan; and bylaws related to the land located in the community of Southwinds at 4221 24th Street SW.
Two updates will then be provided to council, one on the 2023 Council Focus Areas year-end report and the second on the revised schedule for reclamation work and installation of interpretive signage in 2024 at the Water Tower site.
Council will be presented with an update on the FortisAlberta end of life replacement of electrical cables within the community of Big Springs.
Next, Fire Chief Mike Pirie will be asking council to endorse a capital budget amendment to increase Project #001303 by $218,000 to fully execute the Airdrie Fire Department radio lifecycle project in 2024.
Two reports are included on the agenda. First, council is being asked to endorse the Council Focus Areas objectives and second council is being asked to endorse the Airdrie – Rocky View County Master Shared Services Agreement.
Part of the correspondence section are two requests for proclamation from the Alberta Lymphedema Association and the Girl Guides of Canada, as well as a letter of reference from the Circle Connections for Reconciliation Society and a letter of support from the Rural Development Network.
Airdrie council will meet at 1 p.m. for its regular council meeting.
Question Period is still part of the agenda, but per a change to this process in the fall of 2023, residents must register to ask a question during a regular council meeting. Contact Legislative Services for information on how to register.
A closed meeting will follow the regular meeting with topics including intergovernmental discussion, agreement update, and fund action plan discussion.
