What's on the Agenda: Feb. 5

Airdrie council will meet at 1 p.m. on Feb. 5 for its regular council meeting.
City council met April 3 and declared April 15 to 21 Nation Volunteer Week in Airdrie.

Council will be asked to give three readings to Bylaw No. B-46/2023 at today's council meeting.

A Public Hearing is being held on this bylaw that would add Storage Facility, Public as a discretionary use specific to lands in the downtown core mixed use district.

Four presentations will be made, the first is the 2024 update of the City of Airdrie Housing Needs Assessment, which outlines the challenges of Airdrie’s current housing landscape and the importance of continued Council commitment to achieving better housing outcomes.

Next, council is being presented with an arena analysis within the SW Recreation Multi-Use Facility. Information will include the appropriate nature and scale of the planned arena phase within the SW recreation facility to meet community need as a top priority and the feasibility of spectator capacities as value-added considerations. The assessment will inform the site master plan and frame options returning to Council in 2024.

The third presentation is the February 2024 Police Service Model Review Update, and the fourth presentation includes an update on the NE Regional Park project.

Airdrie council will meet at 1 p.m. for its regular council meeting.

Three items of correspondence are also included in the agenda package, including two requests for proclamation for Freedom to Read week and Wear Red Canada Day, as well as a letter of support for Volunteer Airdrie Society's grant application.

Question Period is still part of the agenda, but per a change to this process in the fall of 2023, residents must register to ask a question during a regular council meeting. Contact Legislative Services for information on how to register.

A closed meeting will follow the regular meeting with topics including intergovernmental discussion, agreement update, and fund action plan discussion.
Each item is protected under Freedom of Information and Protection (FOIP) of the privacy act.
