The Cochrane Cobras’ provincial title hopes evaporated in the cold, as the team lost 23-12 to the Cardston Cougars in a Tier 3 semifinal game in Lethbridge, Nov. 20.

Airdrie will put its name in the ring to host the 2015 Western Summer Games. City council supported the submission of a bid to host the Games, Nov. 15.

The Airdrie Xtreme split a pair of games last weekend – a 7-3 loss to the Calgary Bisons in Three Hills on Nov. 13 and a 5-0 win over the division-leading Lethbridge Golden Hawks, Nov. 14.

The Airdrie Thunder beat the High River Flyers 6-5 in overtime on the road, Nov. 12, before falling 3-2 to the Stampeders in Ponoka the next evening.

Airdrie’s Corissa Boychuk became the first Albertan to win gold at a Trampoline and Tumbling World Championship, when she claimed top spot in the double mini-trampoline final in Metz, France on Nov. 13.

The Cochrane Generals have taken over first place in the Heritage Junior Hockey League’s Central Division after posting two more wins last weekend. A five-goal first period led to a 10-1 win over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings, Nov.

The AC Avalanche had the lead for only six minutes against the Keystone Raiders, but it was the right six minutes. The Avs used a two-goal third period comeback to beat the Raiders 6-5 during a wild contest at Airdrie’s Ron Ebbesen Arena, Nov. 7.

Kyle Pauls, Tyler Wong and Mackenzie Bauer combined for 12 points, while Christian Fitzgerald made 21 saves in net, as the Airdrie Xtreme extended its winning streak to three with a 7-3 road victory over the Calgary Northstars on Nov. 7.
