The Airdrie Thunder’s intense four-day tryout camp wrapped up with its annual Red and White Game on Labour Day. The Junior B hockey club hopefuls were split into two teams at the Ron Ebbesen Arena, Sept.

The Airdrie Xtreme pared down its Bantam AAA roster from an initial 80 players to 28 following its annual Tie Dye game, Sept. 6.

Airdrie proved again last weekend it can host major events, as the 2010 BMX nationals held in the city Aug. 27-29, was a resounding success.

The first edition of this year’s cross-city football rivalry between the George McDougall Mustangs and the Bert Church Chargers will take place at Genesis Place at 5 p.m. on Sept.

The Junior B Airdrie Thunder and the Airdrie Xtreme Bantam AAA hockey clubs will both hold tryouts at the Ron Ebbesen Arena beginning Sept. 3.

The annual Airdrie Chamber of Commerce Golf tournament was a big success, raking in more than $22,000 for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, Aug 20. More than 80 local businesses took part in the tournament, which started at 1:30 p.m.

Despite the uncertainty of our unsettled weather, the Fun Country Riders completed another show and gymkhana on Aug. 22 at the Strathmore Rodeo Grounds. Thanks go to our judge, Diane Botsford, for placing the classes.
