New Horizon Mall (NHM) in East Balzac will be hosting a family-friendly, summer-themed event to help kick off the season.
“It’s a summer family event that we created to have at the mall to welcome summer,” said Maria Cueller, a representative from NHM.
The June 1st event is free to attend, she said, and will feature various summer activities running from 1 to 3 p.m.
“There will be face painting, balloon artists and carnival games,” Cueller said.
Attendees are also invited to take part in hip-hop dancing and watch an acrobatic yoga display. Summer treats will be served, as well, which Cueller said will likely include Popsicle and freezies.
The shopping centre, which opened May 2018, hosts a number of events throughout the year. Cueller said the facility has gained some traction within the community as a result of the variety of cultural entertainment, family-friendly activities and opportunities for social engagement it offers.
Recently, the mall held events celebrating Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day. This summer, Cueller added, NHM is organizing a Stampede breakfast and hopes to see it continue as an annual event.
“[In the] last few weeks, we've been seeing the foot traffic has picked up,” Cueller said. “I think it's mostly because of the events.”
The summer celebration is presented by BassBurn and will take place in the mall’s atrium, which features a stage and lots of natural light.
