A Crossfield-based Cannabis producer presented the Town of Crossfield with a cheque to be allocated to the Town’s recreation programming, during the Council's final meeting of the year on Dec. 21.

Following some relatively quiet New Years’ Eve celebrations last year, rural towns and communities across Rocky View County are ready to ring in the new year with fireworks and bonfires on Dec. 31.

The Town of Crossfield Council reviewed municipal policies, gave the thumbs up to a local survey, and approved its capital budget during a regular meeting on Dec. 7.

Once again, a seniors’ living facility in Crossfield is selling a resident of the month calendar to liven spirits and raise money for charity, with only a quarter of the calendars left for sale.

For the second year in a row, Crossfield resident Liz Grace organized the Swear Jar campaign to raise money for the Crossfield Fire Department’s annual Christmas hamper program. Throughout November, Grace and the rest of her potty-mouthed pals contributed a dollar to their swear jars every time they uttered a naughty word.

Both W.G. Murdoch School and Crossfield Elementary School are gearing up for a series of student showcases and holiday concerts to be streamed virtually for attendees this week.

A press release from Alberta RCMP indicated the incident occurred at 2:24 p.m., when Leduc RCMP members received a 911 call about an SUV going off road on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway (QEII). The vehicle had been travelling in the northbound lane, and went off-road about 100 metres north of the 50 Avenue overpass.

While there’s no voting anyone off the island or blind-siding each other at Tribal Council to worry about, Campbell said the initiative has included plenty of other features from the long-standing reality show.

CAO Sue Keenan put forth a motion for council to accept the draft film policy in principle, adding the finalized document will return to council for official ratification in December. Pending that approval, she said it would then be presented to Calgary's film commission. 

The Crossfield Farmer’s Market is hosting its annual Christmas market at four individual venues from Nov. 5 to 6, featuring a variety of vendors and holiday-themed fun.
