Crossfield’s longest-serving local politician is stepping down from the position of mayor, with Jo Tennant confirming on Sept. 16 that she is not running for re-election in the Oct. 18 municipal vote.

The Town of Crossfield is teaming up with the local chamber of commerce for this year’s iteration of Community Fest, which will take place Sept. 13 on Railway Street.

Representatives from the Town of Crossfield, Optimist International, the Crossfield Chamber of Commerce, and Collicut Siding Golf Club, gathered together on Aug. 30 to cut the ribbon officially declaring the Lil' Optimist Loop open. The three holes are a practice session catered toward and restricted to youth golfers only, except for one evening a week.

A new chief administrative officer (CAO) is joining the ranks of fellow Crossfield Town council members this fall, following in the footsteps of previous CAO Ken Bosman, whose contract was terminated earlier this year.

Yoga instructor Cheryl Hoff has collaborated with Dream Development once again this year to offer free yoga classes in Crossfield’s Amery Park. According to Hoff, the Yoga in the Park classes will be held every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. – weather permitting ­­– until Sept. 25

Airdrie Rural RCMP are clearing the air after a possible child abduction attempt was misreported in Crossfield last week.

Bringing back an activity that has re-gained popularity amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Crossfield is hosting a drive-in movie screening at the Crossfield Rodeo Grounds on Aug. 13.

While crime rates have dropped in the municipality, Crossfield residents are encouraged to employ precautions such as locking car doors, leaving lights on, and closing garage doors to further prevent petty crime, according to RCMP Corporal Lief Svendsen.
